They used to give males a vasectomy during prostatectomy to prevent infections of the testicles.

I used to get orchitis or epididymitis about every 3 to 4 months requiring hospitalization for almost 5 years. After my wife and I had three chidren I decided on a vasectomy to hopefully end the infections in the testicles. It did not go without complications but I have not had infections in the testes since. As a complication from the vasectomy, I lost my left testicle on my birthday in 2000.

God bless,

Ron
