I was diagnosed with an epidimal cyst in January 2008. I'm 23.
When I was 15, I found a small hard lumpLumps in the breasts (very small, possibly half a pea sized, and raised maybe 2mm) which was extraordinarily painfulPainful menstrual periods for about two weeks, and then there was no pain. Being 15 I didn't want to do anything about it!
At 16, I then got a pea sized lumpLumps in the breasts above the small lumpLumps in the breasts that I mentioned previously and at that point I was worried so I went to see a doctor. He told me it was an epidimal cyst and was nothing to worry about, (as it was detached from the testicleTesticle lump Testicle pain Testicle ultrasound) although may cause some pain if I examine myself.
When I was 23, I then discovered some fluid at the base of my penisCancer - penis Curvature of the penis Penis care (uncircumcised) Penis pain, so another trip to the doctor was i order. I went to see a Urology doctor who told me it was a penile cyst although very fludiy and essentially nothing to worry about. I had an ultrasound done too.
My question is though, that the small hard lump is still there, sitting underneath the epididimal cyst. (The epidiminal cyst can be moved, which then reveals the harder lump) Obviously it's been there since I was 15 (8 years or so) and hasn't grown, but I'm now reading things like, "If It's a hard lump, it's probably a tumor" I tried to explain this harder lump to all my doctors, but they never really understood what I was talking about, and I'm not convinced that they ever really found it.
I'm not the type of person to run to the doctor - aside from some dull pain every now and again, nothing has really changed with my testicles. They are smooth, neither cyst has grown in the past six months since having the ultrasound - but my concern has grown.
Am I being irrational to think the urologist could have missed the harder lump?
After eight years, with no change to the testicles, surely it can't be serious at this point?
Your concern about the lump is understandable.
It is possible that the lump that first appeared was also a cyst. Since then, it may have undergone changes and even fibrosis to have becone hard.
Epididymal cysts are known to be harmless and do not turn cancerous
Do you also have any swelling of the lymph nodes in your groin?
Any infectious or neoplastic changes would be reflected in the lymph nodes draining from the area.
As the lump has not grown in size, and has not caused any other symptoms, it is unlikely to be a malignant tumor.
If you still need to be clear about the cause of the lump, you can request your doctor to advise/ recommend a FNAC for evaluating the lump further.
Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
