I had developed itching in the section between my upper thigh & my scrotum lately & then started to notice a lot of flaky skin on my scrotum; I went to my doctor & he told me I had a fungus & prescribed me Hydrozole cream - I forgot to ask my doctor exactly what the fungus was, but I assume it was Tinea Cruris/Jock Itch?
Anyway, my questions are...
I just started applying this & while not overlly difficult to apply with my pubic hair, it would make it a lot easier to apply if I shaved my pubic hair off. I do shave down there from time to time, but I haven't shaved for awhile down there.... so I was wondering with my current condition was it safe to shave down there (as I use a electric trimmer that obviously isn't disposable)? Basically I'm worried if I shave down there now is it possible that I can contract the fungus again at a later date when I use the trimmer again? I also use this trimmer to trim my moustache; will it still be safe to do so?
Secondly... I read in the instructions for this cream that I shouldn't apply it to skin areas that rub together - such as the area of skin between the scrotum & the upper thigh - unless your doctor told you to; this is the main area where I have my itching. Since my doctor prescribed this cream to me I assume it's ok to appy it there then?

This is a pretty safe cream and should treat most cases of tinea. At times, this can be associated with a bacterial infection, in which case antibacterials would be needed.
If the cream isn't effective, you can also consider cases of dermatitis - which would require a steroid cream.
I am not aware of shaving being associated with recurrence of the fungus.
