Rash and irritation on penis

I have been experiencing a rash just under the head of my penis. It started a year ago with a line(looks like a tiny vein) just under the head of my penis that runs sideways in the "crease" and extends around about 1 1/2 inches. It sometimes chaffs and the skin sometimes breaks...like a tiny cut. Part of the area gets white and sometimes has an odor where the white is. I have no pain , burning, or itch. I saw my dermitologist last year about this problem and she gave me something called dermitop (think I spelled it right)..it seemed to work well..what is this medication? At the time she didnt seem to know what was causing my problem. Would really like to know what this irritation is....Is it fungal? What can I use on it? Thankyou....John

I am not familiar with Dermitop and cannot tell you what it is. It is possible it may be a steroid cream, but I'm not sure.
Tough to say what the lesion is without seeing it. Infection, dermatitis or a fungal rash are all possible.
I would check the urine for infection and test for STDs. You can try and do a KOH prep with a swab of the lesion to see if there is anything fungal present. If it is fungal, an antifungal cream can be considered. Dermatitis can be treated with a steroid cream.
A referral to a dermatologist or urologist can be considered for further evaluation.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
