Kathy - Delayed
pubertyPuberty and adolescence is usually nothing more than
simplySimply sleep that,
a delay. But it can be more serious and you are right to begin
checking it out. I would suggest an endocrinologist (hormone
specialist) be consulted. Make sure you get a test for
prolactin.
If
prolactin is elevated, even a

Little tummys, it usually means major
trouble with the pituitary gland. Ask the urologist how many cases
of delayed puberty he has in his practice. Make sure he does
hormone tests for IGF-1, LH, FSH, TSH, ATCH, cortisol, testosterone,
prolactin. You need to know how many of these are normal.
Don't panic, but take action. If the doctor can't answer your
questions then find one who can. Not all doctors are created equal.
I am not a doctor, but I know first hand the effect of a
complete loss of some or all of these important hormones.
Best of luck.
