Could someone please explain to me why men wake up with an erections every morning?  Does it mean anything when this happens?

Thanks for your question.
Erections are experienced in REM (rapid eye movement ) phase of sleep. REM sleep is more frequent just before awakening than during the first part of the night.  This is a normal finding and is inquired about by urologists to help discern between emotiuonal and physical  causes of impotence.              (Erections during sleep are usually present in emoyional causes of impotence.)
