Recurring Vesicoureteral Reflux After Corrective Surgery

by S.Coon, Mar 28, 2007 12:00AM
I have a 3 year old son who was diagnosed with level 5 Vesicoureteral Reflux when he was 9 months old.  We tried the an outpatient procedure (Deflux) to correct the problem.  However this was not effective and when he was 14 months old he had corrective surgery.  The past month we have been in and out of the hospital for several different reasons, but the main issue was an ongoing fever lasting 6 weeks.  The only thing doctors have been able to find is the bacteria enterobacter in his blood cultures.  This is a bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract, but is harmful when it enters the bloodstream.  The best explanation for it being in the blood stream is Vesicoureteral Reflux.  Has any one ever experienced Vesicoureteral Reflux after having the corrective surgery?
