Red Spot on Penis

by clank, Apr 16, 2004 12:00AM
I have recently been having unprotected intercourse with a new girlfriend.  I noticed that after we have sex my penis is sore and chafed (especially right under the tip).  I also noticed red legions on the shaft area.  I usually put a little vitamin E oil on the cahafed area,  wait a few days between sex,  and the red legions go away, but then come back again after sex.  Am I damaging the sensitivity of my penis by continuing to have sex to the point where I am chafed? Is it possible that her vaginal shape or secretions can be irratating my penis?

Thanks...

You may want to be evaluated for STDs, such as herpes, gonorrhea, or chlamydia.  A urethral swab or urine tests would be an appropriate initial evaluation.  Tests for herpes can also be discussed.

If infectious diseases have been ruled out, then irritation, a dermatitis, or topical fungal infection can be considered.  A dermatology referral can be considered for further evaluation and treatment (i.e. steroid cream for dermatitis, anti-fungal cream for a fungal infection).

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
