I'm asking this question for my own peace of mind, as well as for my fathers sake.
He has been hospitialized twice before, with having blood in his urine. Both times being discharged, with the Dr.'s not telling him what the cause is.
He went yesterday to his Dr. his prostate was checked and found to be swollen....and gave a urine specimen.
He was called with the urine results this morning...he was told his urine was full of blood.
He was given a Lo-So kit, and due to be at the hospital in the morning for a iodine test???? His Dr. wrote diagnosis was "hematuria". Could you please tell me what are the possible causes of this to keep happening? His only other health problem is high b.p. which he takes medicine for.

Blood in the urine certainly is a conerning symptom. Causes can include infection, a kidney stone, cancer, or other kidney diseases.
A urology referral should be sought. Tests to consider would be a cystoscopy (to comprehensively look at the bladder), CT scan of the kidneys, as well as a thorough prostate check.
These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
