Repeat UTIs

Hi there, I'm desperately trying to help my wife (Gwen) get well from nearly 2 years of repeat UTIs. It's really getting her down and I feel completely helpless as to how I can help her further. She's had some different anti-biotics over this time (Trimethoprim/Amoxicillin/Nitrofurantoin) but it only seem to help her out temporarily, and furthermore I'm not entirely sure that they aren't making her health more of a problem.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Harry.

Well she's currently taking a level teaspoon of the 'Waterfall D-Mannose' before bed. She's had no problems since then the problem was cleared up (rather quickly I should add) by the product. I can't understand why her doctor didn't know about it. Still all is well, and more importantly, so is she. x

I am a 38 year old woman with a history of kidney stones, multiple and consistent UTI's, and bladder infections.  My doctor prescribed me 500 mg of Macrodantin antibiotic pills.  I take one immediately after intercourse.  I also religiously went the the bathroom and urinated afterwards, too.  This has helped TREMENDOUSLY!  I haven't had a UTI in almost a year.
I would also suggest a visit to a urologist, of course, for a checkup and to get a preventative prescription.  Good luck.

Hi,
Im new to this but could i suggest you wife having some tests for kidney stones, i was getting many recurrent uti's and this is how my large stone was found.
Incidentally, there are different types of kidney stones and my doc reckons that mine is a struvite stone which is caused my recurring infection.

Hi everyone, happy new year :D I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Me and Gwen have almost got our home back in shape after the beating it took over Christmas :P The clever, Waterfall D-Mannose, product we got worked really well and I beleive that it made a huge difference to our holiday period. It's so nice to have my wife back to her usual happy self again so without trying to over-do it, thank you all so much again for your input and I wish you all the happyness possible for the future.

Thanks so much,
Harry x.

Just to keep you updated...

I've been reccomended a product on another forum that I'd decided to try out after reading about it a little. The link to the posts is here...

It seems to be working well at the moment, but I don't know if it's short term relief or a full time solution as yet. Feel free to have a read of what's there and if any of you have any views on the product I'd appreciate some outside input if you know anything more about it at all.

Hi Harry: I would strongly suggest she see a urologist, if she hasn't already.  I can totally relate.  I have an infection about every 2 months, despite being on a maintenance antibiotic twice per day.  They only protect against certain things, and I've even had infections from things they are supposed to protect against.  I've had an ultrasound which showed only kidney stones -- no other problems, thankfully and a normal exam. It is very frustrating to have the problem over and over again.  Seems almost inexplainable.  I never had them before and during the last 2 years, they have been one right after the other.  My latest problem is the culture was negative so they don't want to give more antibiotics.  I know I have an infection so I guess I'll just let it get worse and then show up later in a culture, to be given more antibiotics, feel better for a little while, and then start the whole cycle all over again.  Good luck to her!

Hi, Harry
I am living the same situation. I had 3 UTIs in 9 months and It is frustrating. All my UTIs were real bad. I also had macro hematuria. I went to the ER all the 3 times and they prescribed antibiotics for 7 days, everything gets well again and after 3 months I get another UTI. I asked them if i should go further, get an ultrassound done or whatever and they told me since I already had an ultrasound 4 years ago it wouldn't be necessary. I finally decided to go to a general doc after the last problem. The doc told me to get an ultrassound as soon as I could. He told me yes, I may have a tumor or some other kind of problem. Infection may already reached my kidneys. I am scared and I've been reading a lot and they say some people need to be on antibiotics over 6 months, some people all life. I suggest you to go further, look for a GD, look for an OBG because it is an awful situation. Everytime I go to the bathroom I never know what to expect and it just makes you sad and full of bad expectations.
