Hi,
How are you? An inguinal hernia can extend from the groinGroin lump Groin pain Groin stretch Jock itch Swollen lymph nodes in the groin into the scrotum, interfering with the normalNormal saline flush position of a testicle. Scarring from surgery to repair an inguinal hernia also can contribute to a retractile testicle. There are other causes which can contribute to retractlie testis like premature birth, abnormal development of sex organs, tight spermatic cord, groin injury etc
In your case as you are experiencing these symptoms only after hernia repair, this can be contributed to scarring post repair. Retractile testicle usually will descend on its own without treatment. For this reason, watchful waiting usually is recommended for a retractile testicle.
Other treatment options include surgery or hormone therapy. As you already underwent surgical treatment, it will take sometime to settle down. Also as your doctor said that there was twisting of testis i.e., testicular torsion, this could cause damage to the testicular blood supply and there by decreasing the size of testis and also can lead to the unstability of positioning of the testis.
As for any surgery, some time is required for recovery. So have patience and follow the advise of your doctor. In case the situation is the same then get a doppler ultrasound of scrotum and discuss with your doctor regarding hormone therapy.
All the best.
