Right Testicle Pain

Subject: Right Testicle Pain

Forum: The Urology Forum

My husband has been having dull pain and discomfort in the right testicle on and off for over 6-8 months.  Finally saw family doctor last month who, without running any tests, said probably a hernia and scheduled appt. w/surgeon.  I insisted on seeing a urologist first.  Saw the urologist.  He did physical exam, felt no hernia, nor any suspicious lumps or bumps, but scheduled an ultrasound.  The ultrasound found no abnormalities.  Urologist said take Advil or Tylenol for pain and "come back and see me in 2 months."  I am furious.  No blood was drawn, no other possibilies were offered.  My husband had to suggest "could it possibly be an infection since he was experiencing a burning sensation in the back cord area of that testicle".  Doctor said it could and did, after prompting by my husband, prescribe antibiotic.  Still taking antibiotic.  No change yet.  What other options do we have should pain not subside?  Shouldn't the urologist at least have drawn blood to run testing?  Should we seek out the surgeon to have him run tests for the hernia, go back to family doctor, or try another urologist.  This urologist was highly recommended, but seems to me that he has no time to do a thorough workup.  Very frustrated and in the meantime, my husband is suffering.  Could my husband have gotten an infection from me during a period of time when I had a slight bacterial infection if we had intercourse without use of condoms?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
