Ruptured spermatocele

by ajaxmiller, May 07, 2003 12:00AM
I am a 61 year old man with bilateral spermatoceles. One on them is quite large, about twice the size of the testicle.  Yesterday I was struck in the scrotum and the large one ruptured.  The testicle is now normal size.  I feel fine other than a little tenderness.  My question: Is there any danger of infection from the fluid that was in the spermatocele or will it just be absorbed by the body?  Thank you

Hello - thanks for asking your question.

A ruptured spermatocele may lead to the following complications: infection, spillage of very irritating sperm within the scrotum, and reaccumulation of the spermatocele.

You should be evaluated by a urologist for proper removal of the spermatocele.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
