Short Sharp Pain In Penis

Short Sharp Pain In Penis

I am a 27 year old male who occasionally has short, sharp pain in the penis and scrotum.  It usually is sharp pain that comes from no where (there doesn't seem to be anything that I am doing to cause it).  It usually is so sharp that it doubles me over, but only lasts for maybe 10-15 seconds and then stops.  It happens maybe once every one to two weeks.  The pain is usually in the head of the penis, but occurs in different places in the scrotum.  The only history that I have had is kidney stones about 8 years ago, but have never had any other problems.  I have had urinalisys recently, but that was for another problem so I am not sure if they test for everything when they do it, however nothing abnormal was mentioned to me by the doctor.  This has been happening for a while now.  I am not currently sexually active.  Any ideas or anything I should do?  Thanks.

Infection should be ruled out first.  This can be done via urine tests looking for urethritis, or a urethral swab to exclude STDs.

If infection has been ruled out, you can consider anatomical causes like a urethral stricture or polyp.  A cystoscopy would be the most comprehensive way to evaluate for this.

These options can be discussed with your personal urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
