I was diagnosed with a prostate infection nearly two weeks ago (Friday Feb 22). My pain actually started on Tuesday the 19th (around lunch time) with a slight burning type sensation about the size of a dime at the top of my pubic line. I didn't think much of it. Wednesday the 20th however my rectum, testicles and the entire groin area were burning badly - all day long. I had a good idea that it was a prostate infection so I called the doctor for the soonest appointment.
They tested my urine and did a prostate exam (confirmed infection via manual exam) and I left with a prescription for Doxy. I should mention that I had no burning Thursday or Friday (21/22). I started taking the Doxy immediately since I was going out of town for a trip that weekend. Saturday I experienced overwhelming fatigue - may have been the 5 hour drive - I'm uncertain. Sunday on the drive home I started feeling a burning sensation along my pubic line again. Again, I didn't think much of it.
Monday the burning had moved to my appendix area. Tuesday to my left and right flank regions on my back. Wednesday and Thursday the burning remained on my back. Friday morning I called my doctor, concerned about the burning. She said apparently the Doxy wasn't working so she switched me to Cipro. Since I've been on Cipro (4 days now), the burning has continued - moving nearly every day to a different part of my body and varying in severity. One day on my right forearm and left thigh, another day on my right chest. The feeling is remarkably similar to a sunburn even so much so that any kind of cool air blowing on my skin gives me chills and goosebumps. It's not particularly painful, just worrisome. No fever.
I am curious if this skin burning sensation is due to the prostate infection or if it could be something else? I would appreciate any feedback to help ease my mind a little.
