Slight Testicle Pain.

edit: sorry i have already posted this in another forum and got told to ask here.

hi there. got a football kicked at me yesterday evening and it ever so slightly caught the end of my ball. normal hurting pain from this at time. still can feel it slightly but have checked them like normal, so excessive pain, no swelling and no colour change.
i had exact same feeling about a month ago went straight to the emergency room and there was nothing wrong. i dont want to lok silly again and this sounds like a routine knock of the nuts? do u think it is just bruise under the skin and pain will go away. also i am one of those people who worry about everything too much - very much like last time.

update from original forum post: pain is slight and still there, but i am able to do a complete check of the balls without hardly any pain. i am scared of torsion what the doc has told me about before and do you really think i could have this if i could carry out a check and touch them without major pain? please comfort me on this if you can? im sure it is just swelling or something as it is the first time i have been 'hit' in the nuts since the hospital visit mentioned above. please help if you can, kevin

During my romance with a girl, the lady squeezed my testicles and after a week, a lump. Occurred in my testicles. Please I will like to know if this has a relationship with the romance I had and what I should do to relieve the situation.

Hi Kevin,

Sitting in a hot bath does help relieve pain in the pelvic and lower abdominal region.

Sitting in a hot bath is thus routinely advised for persons suffering from prostatitis.

Regarding the epididymitis - It is an inflammation of the epididymis. An inflammation can occur in response to an injury or infection.

So yes, the football injury could have inflamed the epididymis.

No issues with the length of the post. It is quite refreshing to have details while diagnosing.

new update on condition:

Hi again,

Went swimming this afternoon, well not swimming as in lengths, i just mean i sat in the heated learner pool while my bro did lessons. The pool was very warm and at first i was a bit worried about moving around in the water as i may knock the testicles again.

Anyway after i came out i felt soo much better. i know some people say hot baths help relief this kind of pain, but i didnt know this much. i now think i have bruised the left testicle. this is why i believe i was getting pain that side of my groin area.

Do you believe that this kind of bruising may be the condition i have? this is what i believe as i am feeling no pain whilst urinating or ejaculating, although there was some pain in my whole bladder/ groin area, i think this was just phsycological and that i was worrying that the pain was there. i believe that i am on the way to recovery now.

By the way doctor, i had a whole day and night without pain killers and the pain did seem to be less, but the whole 'swimming' thing has helped i believe and i will have a few more hot baths in the next few days.

Sorry if this is long and time consuming for you to read, it is just i feel that you have helped me greatly and i feel when i express and tell someone about what is going on, i feel better and more confident. thank you

Kevin

Hi,

would i be able to get the infection in the epididymis from a football hitting me?

i have also looked at the possibility of variscole veins? again, can this happen from football?

the incident did happen last friday so it hasnt even been a week yet, and as i say i have taken part in football referring and everyday stuff like college since then and so worries, it is just really sitting about that when it aches.

is there any conditions that you could think of that could of been caused by the football hitting me, and also not STD's.

Hi,

Yes, any pain in the epididymis can be indicative of infection.

Also watch for any other changes such as tenderness or swelling.

Do stop the painkillers for a day or so and note whether the pain as subsided or change in character.

If you do not feel any decrease or relief in the pain without painkillers, it would be better to seek medical attention ASAP.

Hi again,

update: the back of my left testicle is not hurting any more and is fine to touch. however the 'pipe' at the back is aching slighty at the top where it joins behind the penis.

is this just a case of when i got hit there everything would hurt just the bottom bit has gone pain free first. this is not a terrible pain im in just one that is there whenn my mind is on it.

meanwhile, i have been wearing protective underwear to support it, and have been taking painkillers once or twice a day. im thinking if the pain is still there what so ever this time next week i should do to the docs, as it may be possible i have an infection? or not?

thanks, kevin

Hi,
Bruises heal from within a few days up to 2 weeks.

"Healing from sports injuries can take some time. After swelling is reduced, healing is dependent upon blood supply. A good blood supply will help move nutrients, oxygen, and infection fighting cells to the damaged area to work on repair. Athletes tend to have a better blood supply, and heal faster than those with chronic illness, smokers, or those with sedentary lifestyles. Ultimately, healing time varies from person to person, and you can not force it to happen"
"Healing time for any injury can be longer if you return to activity too soon."

ok thanks, this is what i thought and wasnt going to do to the docs until anything changed or worsened.

as i have already said, i am a worrier person and am trying to get through this on my own, but am just waiting for the day when the pain goes. do you think if it is a strain or a muscle pull or a bruise it will heal in a week?

Hi,

If there has been no swelling in the inguinal area (where your leg joins your trunk and the groin), or any discoloration, it would be safe to think its harmless.

If you develop any swelling, fever, discoloration of skin, or severe tenderness to touch, seek immediate medical attention.

Meanwhile you can just let it be.

And avoid further trauma.

thanks for the advice. i definatly dont think it is anything serious as over the weekend i have been extremely busy and my mind was off it. I was wondering how long the pain would be there if it is bruised/ knocked. thanks for clearing this up. but as i am thinking about it now the pain isnt in a particular area but just kind of around the top of my left leg. shall i leave it and wait till friday to see if it has gone?

Hi,

It is possible that the testicle is just tender after the trauma (however mild) it underwent.

If it has been bruised it will be tender for the next few days, may be as long as a week.

Since you have not noticed any swelling, it is unlikely that there has been trauma significant enough to cause seroius damage.

Torsion seems unlikely with the symptoms you have described.

It is best to provide support and protection to sensitive areas of the body, such as the scrotum, while indulging in contact sports.

An ounce of prevention....

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
