A cyst, infection, or mass can all be considered.
Imaging the lesion can be done with an ultrasound, which can possibly exclude cancer.
Obtaining urine tests and a urethral swab can evaluate for infection.
I would also image the scrotum to exclude masses or anatomical abnormalities there as well.
These options should be discussed with your personal urologist.
