Thank you for your reply. Just an update in regards to some of your suggestions: I had a pap smear about two months ago and it did show inflammation, but was negative for STDs. So, I am focusing on the bladder/kidney side of things.
After my 2nd round of cipro, I did another urinalysis and it came up clear (other than my doctor later finding sodium urate crystals), showing no signs of bacteria related to UTI. And, as my ND and I are looking further into this issue, trying to piece things together, I did increase my protein and Vitamin D intake (significantly) about two weeks before all of these symptoms began. If my kidneys are not processing Vit D and protein properly- it would explain the sodium urate/kidney stone symptoms.
All of that being said, I'm going back for another urinalysis tomorrow to see if they can find anything more significant than sodium urate crystals (my last urinalysis was three weeks ago--after the 2nd cipro round--and since them my symptoms have worsened).
I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your reply.
Hi,
How are you? Urinary tract infection is an inflammatory response of the urothelium to bacterial invasion that is usually associated with bacteriuria and pyuria. The complete examination of urine has by tradition been divided into macroscopic and microscopic evaluation.
The macroscopic analysis of urine includes assessment of physical characteristics of urine (appearance, odor, specific gravity) and chemical analysis. Microscopic analysis of the constituents of urine is performed on either an unspun specimen or, more usually, the sediment from centrifuged urine specimens.
As, you already have been on two rounds of ciprofloxacin, there might be no indication of infection, but sodium urate crystals indicate the presence of renal colic, as well as UTI. Also, change in the consistency of urine and presence of bubbles in it is indicative of UTI or STD. I would suggest that you visit a urologist and get a ultrasound abdomen with urine analysis and STD panel done.
All the best.
