Sore Urethra

About 6 months ago, I had a cystoscopy due to frequent urination during the night. The urologist said he found a stricture at the end of my penis and dilated it to increase flow and minimize irritation (he attributed the stricture to an NSU that was not diagnosed soon enough). Since then, flow is fine and no midnight trips to the bathroom. Despite these sucesses, I am still sore and constantly aware of the discomfort. Soreness is specifically located at the end of my penis around the urethra (which is slightly red) and is not terribly painful but obvious. There is no problem urinating, however my urethra becomes increasingly more sore upon ejaculation. I have returned to the urologist and complained about this. He tested my urine and found no blood, pus or white/red blood cells; he also confirmed that my urine flow was very good. He examined my urethra and concluded that it is not overly red and is simply taking time to heal as a result of urine being acidic in nature. I believe that this is far-fetched, especially considering I am only 26 years old and am in otherwise prime healing condition. My question is this: is it common that it would take this long to heal after the cystoscopy? and if not, what possibly could be happening? Bacterial or fungal infection? Trauma? Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.

It is uncommon, but possible, that the irritation may be due to the cystoscopy.  Things like dermatitis as well as a fungal infection can also lead to the symptoms.  One consideration would be to have it looked at by a dermatologist - if a dermatitis is present, steroid creams can be prescribed - if a fungal infection is present, anti-fungal medications would be reasonable.
