Strange feeling left testicle for years

Hi, around 2 - 3 year ago i got kicked in the left testicle and ever since ive been having problems basicaly what it is, its a burning pain in my left testicle upper inner leg( dont know waht that is, just below the testicle), groin i think. And some time its a pain that feels like a growing pain, i usualy dont feel it unless i think about it and when i think about it it gets worse, but some times every week or so it feels like a bad pain when i keep my legs extended. 2 year ago i went to see a doctor and i had a ultrascan and it was negative for cancer. but since then ive been worried incase i have developed cancer or what not. Top of my left testicle also feels so veiny compared to my left testicle and also the veins feel to be more pushed up then the right. Any ideas im thinking about going to book another doctors appointment but i realy have no idea what i would say, Thanks alot looking forward to the comment as ive had this in my mind for 3 years and it has pretty much put a hold on my life now.

Hi,

Testes can take a long time to recover from trauma, even of the blunt type.
The duration may range from several weeks to months.

It is justifiable to be worried about the occurrence of cancer as 10-15% of cancers present following traumatic injury to the testicles.

If there is discomfort in the testes, that is reason enough to consult your urologist. You can disclose history of trauma during the consultation.

Sitting in a hot bath will relieve some of the discomfort and wearing supportive, close-fitting underwear is an added aid to recovery.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.

Hi,

You can just explain to the urologist that you have been have discomfort in the testes for some time and can provide past history of blunt trauma.

Don't worry about the physical examination aspect as that will just be a minor part of the consultation.

Relax.

Hi, I just came back from the gp appointment, which imo was useless, I told him that i got kicked in the testicle 2 - 3 year back and that i was getting pains every so often and that i could feel some sort of lump on the bottom top of my testicle which he felt and said there was nothing, he felt for literlaly 10 seconds and found nothing, he then didnt say why the pain was there. However he refered me to urologist which im gona book a consultation in a few minutes. Can yous tell me what involves when i go see the urologist, also if the doctor said there was nothing wrong is there realy a point in me going? will the urologist think of me as wasting there time?? i just need peace of mind at most, thanks

Hi,

It would be better to make an appointment with the urologist to have the lump evaluated.

You are familiar with the lump and it has been palpable to your examination.
It is possible that a small lump may have been missed in a cursory examination.

You could also explain to the urologist that you are concerned about the possibility of testicular cancer, in view of the past testicular trauma.

Alternatively, you can just try remedies such as sitting in a hot bath and abstinence from strenuous activities when the discomfort seems to increase.

But the point here is that you should have a definitive answer and should be able to rest easy regarding your health.

Yeah, i mean i have booked a appointment, 20th of auguest, happens to be my 17th birthday that day, can you tel me what happens when i go see the urologist, I mean i feel stupid going there ive had this for 3 years im not sure if its me making my self paranoid, im not sure if its a lump as such just at the top and bottom where the veins attach it feels like a balll, im not sure if its normal or me over exajurating, but the pain happens every time i sit down, when i go in a hot bath it helps as no pain occurs, is it still plausable for me to visit the urologist? thanks

Hi,

The urologist will also conduct a physical examination. This will include a general exam and an exam specific to the affected organ - the scrotum in this case.
Additionally, he may conduct a digital rectal examination if there is suspicion of prostate involvement to rule out prostate enlargement.

Pain while sitting could also be due to prostate problems as the nerves supplying the prostate also supply the part of the penis, scrotum, and perineal region.

If prostatitis or epididymitis is diagnosed you will be put on a course of antibiotics if there is evidence of bacterial infection.

Sit only on well-padded surfaces as sitting on hard surfaces and for prolonged durations of time can result in further irritation to the nerves.

Thanks for your responses, but you think its viable for me to actualy go see the uroligist even if the doctor said there was no problems there? i think i could forget about all this if the pain didnt occur im just worried incase he will feel that im wasting there time? thanks

the lump that im so worried about is not exactly on the testicle its self its in the scrotum, im not sure if its me mistaking the tubes as a lump is it possible be to a lump on the tube ? im realy in two minds wether or not its me just been paranoid, i mean the pain i can live with its just it occurs all the time and realy does disturb me by keeping this 'what if theres a problem' in my mind, will the urologist think im wasting there time if i go and they cant feel nothing wrong at all? thats one of my main worries, its just this has been in my mind for 3 years. Also how long does a examination etc with a uroligist take baring in mind nothing is found etc.

thanks.

is there any chance on getting a reply on the above post please, thanks for the help etc just need to know a few things which i wrote above.

hi,

Sorry about the delay in responding to the above posts.

It is possible that a detailed examination by the urologist with the requisite tests can help diagnose the problem.

A lump on the testes is something that needs to be evaluated ultrasonographically, to rule out testicular cancer.

Any cause of chronic pain can detract from your quality of life. If this is the case, it would be worthwhile to complete the consultation with your urologist.

Do respond whether any of the measures advised in my previous posts have provided any pain relief.

Well sitting in the bath helps, as i can barley feel any pain, I mean its not a bad pain its just a constant pain that is realy starting to get to me now. I mean i so sit on relitavly soft chairs etc but the pain still comes now and then, sometimes i cant feel it until i actualy think about it which is quite often, but at times when i got a laptop sitting on top of my leg it hurts quite alot then also i dont have many problems while walking and feeling the pain. Also im not sure if it is a lump, i been worried about the pain etc for years on end now that i think i might just be putting things into my head, i mean the first gp appointment i went to the doctor said it was a cyst, the second he couldnt feel nothing, its not a lump that is stuck to my testie its self it feels like i can stick my finger partialy between that and the testi, however im not sure if its me just feeling a collection of the tubes etc.

thanks

Just to add to my above comment.

i mean sometimes its a strange feeling and also its not always the testicle that is hurting its actualy directly to the side of my testicle, the leg, not sure what that part of the body is called, thigh/hamstring maybe? anyway its that which also hurts .

Hi,
So the pain is chronic but awareness of pain is minimal or zero unless you think about it. And it appears to be relieved on application of heat and aggravates on pressure.

If you are not sure there is a lump, and if its possible that you are confusing an anatomical structure with a possible lump or cyst, there does not seem to be any cause for worry.

Just continue the heat application (sitting in a hot bath) for 2-3 weeks more.
Ensure you do not sit for prolonged periods of time and continue to ensure you sit on well-padded surfaces.

Additionally, avoid prostate irritants like caffeine and alcohol and check for any difference in the pain after about 2 weeks.

Regards

Finaly, Visited my uroligst today, had a urine sample, everything was fine, had my blood pressure taken, im guessing that was fine as they didnt do anything else other then that, also i had my blood taken and a phsyical examination, hopefuly everything is fine as the urologist said he couldnt feel anything, can anyone describe what the blood results can show and how long will it take? will i find out if anythings wrong in the blood or? also he reffered me for another ultrascan just to be sure.

So can anyone tell me? is it nessarcery for a ultrasound as if i got a blood test, wouldnt that show up the same as what the ultrasound would show up?? cheers

Jim,

Last week I had an ultrasound done to my entire scrotal area, due to pain in my left testicle.  They found a head cyst, and a vericose vein inside.  I am going to the urologist tomorrow because the pain is constant.  You must have this done initially because feeling really does not prove anything.

I am sure you will be ok........me I am just about 60 yrs old and am concerned because i have never had any such problems.
Sleeping is the worst....sitting up not as bad....living on Advil's which is no long term solution.
Good luck.
