colonoscopy can be considered to look for infection or
inflammatoryInflammatory bowel disease
Ulcerative colitis bowel disease. The stool can be sent to evaluate for infection or malabsorption. Blood tests can be evaluted for celiac disease.
If the tests remain negative, antispasmodic agents can be tried to treat of irritable bowel syndrome.
