Trichomoniasis affects approximately 180 million
womenWomen's way worldwide and 2 to 3 million American women annually, making it the third most common cause of vaginitis. The disorder is virtually always sexually transmitted and the organism can be identified in 30 to 40 percent of the male sexual partners of infected women.
Of course, nothing is impossible, but I am not aware of a non-STD form of transmission for this disease. If both of you are absolutely sure there has not been any STDs involved, you may want another opinion on the diagnosis.
