Testicluar Pain - Please Help

by seekinghelpplease, Apr 28, 2006 12:00AM
Hello,
I am hoping that someone can help me here...I am a male in the mid 30's.My health is not all that great considering I have been smoking for 20 years but never any problems. But for the past 2 months I have had testicular pain particularly in the left side with very little relief. It started the day after my ex told me she just found out she was positive with high strains of HPV(16 and above). At first,I had a weird sensation in the tip of the penis and a minor aching in the scrotum.I went to my GP and he did a physical, blood work, urinalysis, and swap test for STDs.I don't know if he tested me for herpes but I took a weeks worth of antibiotics with very little relief. All my tests came back negative and/or normal but I went back and told him my symptoms seemed to change to more pain in the left side with a weird sensation on my skin.My skin doesn't itch but feels more like a burning or a pinching/pricking on the inside of my thighs to the edge of the srotum and anus area.My GP told me that I had epididymis and gave me 2 weeks worth of Ciprofloxacin (1000mg per day)
I later had to see a Dermatologist since I developed a few warts which were removed from the base of the shaft but I still had aching/pain in the testicles, more on the left side.It seems to come and go and on a few occasions it has been a spearing pain. There have been only a couple times that there has been some very minor pain or ache during the end of urination. The groin muscles on a few times got sore like I pulled something but there has been no trauma or strain to cause that.Plus the aching seems to extend through my muscles in my thighs/knees to my buttocks/pelvic area.I went to see a urologist who checked me out and said nothing looked/felt wrong but I had a scrotal ultrasound done which came up fine.I was told on that second visit that some people just get this kind of pain and nobody can figure out why.I was prescribed another 2 weeks of Cipro (1000mg per day) just in case there is still a infection there.
Its been a week with the third round of medication but I don't know if this will help. The pain has not been as bad but its still there and it has been in the right testicle also.On top of it,during the past couple of weeks I have noticed that my upper lip has felt like its burning and they seem very dry. There would seem to be a few very small white bumps mostly on my upper lips that is only visible when the lips are stretched a bit. There's no redness or scabbing to them and there's no other redness, swelling or anything anywhere. Not that I can notice.
I would appreciate any help or input that anybody could provide me.It has been very discouraging to say the least and with no insurance yet and little funds,I don't know who else to talk to or see.I have read as much as I can but still I am not sure what's exactly is wrong.I know there are several other tests that can be done but to what extent? And what possible problems could they reveal? Thank you for your time.

Difficult to say without examination.  The scrotal ultrasound is a good test to rule out many of the worrying causes of scrotal masses.

I would evaluate the prostate at this point.  A prostatic massage can be considered, as well as sending any prostatic fluid for analysis and culture.  A transrectal ultrasound can be considered to image the prostate.

The swab tests and urine tests would rule out most causes of STDs and UTIs.  Herpes can be considered - tests to swab any lesions, as well as blood tests to evaluate any antibodies can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
