Testicular § abdomen pain

I am 39 years old. I have had discomfort around my left testicle for about a week with discomfort that extends to my left groin and lower left abdomen and somewhat into my right testicle. All of the discomfort is dull and varies in intensity. I also have the feeling of needing to have a bowel movement more frequently. I’ve been pretty regular but I’ve had some false alarms, which is unusual for me.
The discomfort in my abdomen has gotten stronger in the past day or so and spread to my mid side. In general, my intestines don’t feel well and are kind of achy; today I have had some sharp pains in other areas of my abdomen and even in my chest a bit. I do have plenty of energy and am only distracted by the discomfort that tends to be most noticeable when I’m sitting or lying down.
I went to my doctor today whose first thought before the exam was that I might have a muscle strain. I have a three old daughter whom I was throwing into the air around the time the pain started so that is a possibility. Plus, I have not taken it easy since the pain started. Her second thought was that I may have a hernia, however, there was no evidence of hernia and nothing in my abdomen or testicles was or painful or sensitive to her exam.
The doctor’s advice was to take Aleve first to see if there was a muscle strain then check an ultra sound for testicular cancer, which is scheduled for Tuesday. I have taken one Aleve about three hours ago and most of the discomfort is gone but not all.
Something that I did not tell the doctor is that eight weeks ago I took magic mushrooms for the first time in 15 years and only the third time in my life. I have been nervous about it since. They were definitely hallucinogenic and I suppose left my system but my intestines were sore for the next 24- 48 hours.
A) Does the fact that I have no real sensitiveness to pressure in my abdomen rule out a muscle strain?
B) If I have an intestinal issue, with that be revealed in the ultra sound? If not, what test will reveal intestinal problems?
C) She did not want to do a blood test. Wouldn’t a blood test have signaled something cancerous.
D) Could I be concerned about the mushrooms?

To answer your questions:
1) Muscle strain is certainly possible. If there is concern about an abdominal issue, an abdominal CT scan or a colonoscopy can be considered for a thorough evaluation.
2) The testicular ultrasound would not evaluate abdominal problems. The tests mentioned above (the CT scan and/or colonoscopy) would be a reasonable initial evaluation.
3) No - blood tests aren't usually done to look for abdominal or testicular cancers. You may want the consider a PSA test if there is concern about prostate cancer. The colonoscopy would evaluate for colon cancer, and the testicular ultrasound would evaluate for testicular cancer.
4) The mushrooms may lead to any number of GI issues - I would discuss this possibility with your personal physician.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
