Testicular cancer or not?

I am 20 years old, sexually inactive male, who is really terrified
that I might have testicular cancer and/or penile cancer.
  Possible signs of testicular cancer:
Left testicle, no bumps or anything on the testicle, but above the
testicle is this mass of tissue.  It does not hurt when I touch it, unless
I press hard. It looks like a '3rd' testicle.  It is not apparently noticeable
when I have an erection.  What can it possibly be?
  Penile Cancer:
Just behind the glans (glands) penis, is this round bump, noticable when i have an erection.
No pain when i touch it or press hard on it. Its like a little bubble in the side
  of my penis.

I am really frightened that it could be cancer, please tell me otherwise,
My family doctor is very impersonal.  Thanksfor your time.

Dear Mike,
The signs and symptoms of  testicular cancer can be very mild. Most commonly patients have a lump or bump on the scrotum or testicle. It most often is painless. A physical exam can usually differentiate a testicular mass from other scrotal processes such as hydroceles, hernias or varicoceles. A scrotal ultrasound is often performed to confirm the diagnosis made by physical examination. Ultrasound can distinguish solid masses from fluid collections. Talk to your physician about your concerns. Testicular cancer is a very serious condition that can be cured if detected in its early stages. You most likely do not have cancer but a thorough history and physical is warranted.
Penile cancer occurs usually in older men. It is a form of skin cancer and therefore starts an ulcer or skin lesion. A lump on the side of the penis not involving the skin is not a presenting symptom of cancer. It may be a form of lymphangitis (a local inflammation of a lymph channel that is not significant. In addition, you are very young ( not a common age for penile cancer). If you are very concerned , we have many urologist who specialize in diagnosing and treating these types of problems who would be happy to see you. These answers are written for you information only. They are not be used as medical consults. If you have further questions , please call (313)876-2062 to reach a physician at Henry Ford Hospital Dept of Urology.
