Testicular reduction and vasectomy reversal

by geneh, Jul 25, 2005 12:00AM
I am 47 years old. In 1990 I had a vasectomy.  In 2003 I had the vasectomy reversed.  Since the beginning of 2005, I am experiencing a substantial reduction in the size of my testicles (both).  I dont think there was any complications with either surgery.  The reversal seems to have been successful. I dont think there is a reduction in blood supply.  I have done some studying on immune or hormone possibilities but I am uncertain as the cause of the reductions.

Difficult to say without examination.  Two things come to mind.  This can include the hormone possibilities that you alluded to.  A decrease in testosterone levels can lead to testicular reduction.  A simple blood test can check for this.

You can also consider evaluating the vascular supply to the testes - which can also reduce size.  An ultrasound would be the appropriate test to evaluate for this.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
