Thick Semen

My friend has had a change in his semen. For the last week or so it has been thick, a snot like consistency. Should he be concerned? He did have the flu about two weeks ago. He says it doesn't feel any different when he cums. There is no blood or change in color.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

Immediately after ejaculation semen is typically a sticky, jelly-like liquid often forming globules. Within 5 to 40 minutes it will become more watery and liquid before finally drying. The components of semen come from two sources: sperm, and seminal plasma. The latter  is produced by contributions from the seminal vesicle, prostate, and bulbourethral glands. It contains a complex range of organic and inorganic constituents. Any differences in appearance could be attributed to the changes of these components. If it persists or if there are other symptoms noted, it would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor. But at this point, there is nothing to be concerned about.

Take care and regards.
