Tiny Cortical Cyst found on CT Scan INCIDENTAL

hi, doctor. Went to the ER with abdominal pains last August and the CT scan showed mild diverticulosis. tiny cortical cyst was also found on my left kidney by the CT scan, scan read by Nighthawk and was reported on the Nighthawk scan preliminary report, but not on the local hospital FINAL radiology report. ER Doctor told me everything was normal and sent me on my way in August, just add fiber to my diet. I called the local radiology dept here in my hometown and spoke with a radiologist last week. He viewed my CT  images as we were talking. he spoke at length with me and kept telling me over and over again that the cortical cyst on my left kidney was so, so, so, so, so small and nothing to worry about.  he told me that I was 40 years of age and it was a very common finding on CT scans and that they see cortical cysts on scan after scan of a lot of people everyday. told me that the reason the cyst finding was not included on the final report was that SOME radiologists don't even report them, He also said the cyst could be from some fluid from a past infection. He told me to just forget it ever happened and that he WOULD NOT  worry anything else about it if it were him. he told me over and over that it was ok.  He acted as if this cyst finding was NOTHING!  I am a healthy 39 year old male, I am a little bit overweight, 191 pounds, 5 ft 7in.. I have lost about 10-15 pounds since this scan last August and I am continuing to diet, can I just forget about this all and go on?  Can cortical cysts turn into cancer? Let me also add that these reports were read by a total of 3 radiologists that I know of.. the Nighthawk radiologist, a radiologist here who went over my scans in regards to my diverticulosis that was found during the CT Scan and then the radiologist whom I spoke with on the phone the other day. Am I overreacting about this all? I am not having any symptoms at all in regards to kidney problems..MY diverticulosis symptoms stopped after I regulated my diet. Thanks!

Renal cysts are found on CAT scans and renal ultrasounds quite frequently and are not of any significance. Over time they may grow, but they do not require any further follow-up. They are not known to become malignant and they do not cause pain.
The radiologists with whom you interfaced are correct.
Relax!

let me also add that there was another radiologist who viewed and made the final report originally here in my hometown back in August and did not even mention the tiny cortical cyst on the final report in the first place. So, I guess there have been 4 different radiologists looking at my scans. I really appreciate your expertise opinion. I apologize for the long post. I just wanted to let you know all of the details. Thanks so much!
