I know it's been a while since this post was written. If you have a UTI you should go to the doctor - especially when you are pregnant. If you worry about the antibiotic you were prescribed, then talk to your doctor to give you a different one. I had a UTI during pregnancy and afterwards while nursing. I took antibiotics each time to prevent worse (kidney infection, preterm labor). The doctors have pregnant patients coming to them all the time and should know what is safe and what not.
In the meantime drinking a lot helps, Cranberry pills and AZO from the store. I am not sure if it is for pregnant women though.
I guess everyone is different, I was on rx and didn't get relief from the "urgency" for 2 days.
Unfortunately, even rx will take a while to give relief. Cranberry juice will give some relief sooner for the "I gotta go now" feeling. I hope you feel better soon!
The meds the dr gives you will relieve the symptoms almost immediately. There is something over the counter called AZo for UTI's and it works pretty well in the interim. Make sure you go tot he dr though because at 36 weeks I had one and it traveled to my kidneys. Not good!!
Good luck!
Thanks. I think it has. I have aching in my kidneys. Like I said, once it is 8 am here (20 min) I will call and have them write a Rx for me. I just want relief NOW. It's so uncomfortable!!
Drink alot of water.Like non stop, also cranberry juice 100%.I get UTI alot bc I only have 1 kidney.Hope you feel better soon.Go to dr. ASAP,any infection is BAD while prego.& RX is better for you infection.
Do you always get the Rx when you have it? I have been getting them more in the past year, but I was SO miserable last night I sat on the edge of the bed and cried. Then called the nurse line at 2 am, like there's anything they can do anyhow!! I was just reading about macrobid and it is unknown if it is safe for pregnant women. I don't like that and now I'm wondering if I should just treat myself!
stay completely away form sugars and your symtoms should lesson within hours
I mean no bread or rice or cereal or crackers etc etc etc
BUt it helps till antibiotics take over
Drink lots of water and cranberry juice. Also, no oj or dark liquids or milk. Clear liquid only. Cranberry will help. If infect has traveled you will still need rx meds
