Undiagnosed Brown Urine

About 3 months ago I began having a pain on the left side of my mid to lower back, more towards the side of my back than the center where I experience back pain from herniated discs.  It didn't abate at all, so trying to see if it might be a UTI, I urinated in a cup to check the appearance.  It was brown and somewhat cloudy, so I went to the drugstore and got two different UTI home-test kits.  Both were negative, so I called a urologist and made an appointment.  There the dipstick turned up lots of blood in my urine, so I was scheduled for a CT scan. It was negative except for some calcium deposits in my pelvic area and a cyst on my left kidney.  I was then scheduled for a cystoscopy which revealed no problems with my bladder.  Urine was collected from my bladder for cytology.  That was 9 days ago and I have not heard anything.  However, my urine is getting darker and cloudier.  I bought some UTI strips that reveal +++ for blood, a slight rise in protein and a high Specific Gravity. Yesterday, my urine was really horrible looking, so I saved a couple of different samples and noticed after about 1/2 hr. that about 1/4 of the volume was a residue that settled on the bottom.  After draining off the top part, I noticed small blood clots, blood residue and many small (sand grain sized) black specks.  Anybody know what this could be or has had the same symptoms?  I don't know what to do now.  Not real happy with the lack of concern from the urologist.  Many thanks, Terri in Florida
