I never actually saw (or felt) the stone

if it is possible there
is still a stone up there? I get Kidney
Stones quite often and do not always feel
them pass. If not, can my
Urethra simply have been damaged by
the stone? Or irritated?
I do not have a fever, so I am wondering
if it is an infection. Is there any treatment
for any of these or any pain killers?
Thanks for any advice you could give.

Dear Shawn,
It sure sounds like you have a stone to me. All of the symptoms you described can be explained by the presence of a stone. The stone may be very close to the opening into the bladder or even in the bladder. Irritation of the trigone of the bladder can account for the sensations at the tip of the penis. The pain you experience occurs when the stone shifts and causes a partial or temporary obstruction referring pain to your testicles and even your abdomen. The urgency comes from the bladder itself being irritated, again a stone in the bladder tunnel of the ureter or inside the bladder. The fact that there was a stone and you never felt it pass increases the chance that the stone or a fragment of the stone is still present. You might consider getting another abdominal X-ray of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. In the mean time straining your urine through a strainer would let you know if it passed.
I don’t think that a repeat IVP or spiral CT scan is necessary at this time, but if your symptoms get worse or they are too much for your pain medication this may be needed.
I wonder if you had an ESWL or shock treatment for your stones. This might have broken the stone into multiple fragments. Talk with your doctor and determine what your plan of action should be.
If your stones are gone and you still have the symptoms you may still need a cystoscopy in the future.
