Hello, I am a 33 year old male in good health and STD free.
I am having to wake up during the night to urinate at least once. Basically I had a very strong urge to urinate at night back in april which led to a white semen like discharge and a burning sensation while urinating in june. (I was not sure this was discharge until a few days after when I noticed it was always wet around my penis, so I decided to milk it and noticed the white stuff. Note that I have no STDs and been with the same girl for over 4 years. Urine tests showed no infection however a dipstick test at the clinic showed blood, protein and pus in the urine. Burning while urinating developed only after this discharge came about - it was not an issue when I had this strong urge to urinate back in april.
A few days later I had a sore throat so I decided it is time to go to the doctor. I was prescribed sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim for 10 days. This cured the discharge and the sore throat temporarily as the sore throat came back, I went back for Amoxicillin for 10 days which took care of the sore throat.
At this point I was urinating at night still had slight stinging in the tip of the penis when I peed and the area in the urethra felt uncomfortable.
I had an ultra sound of the urinary tract which include the kidneys, bladder and prostate. The prostate size was normal but showed that my bladder had 670ml urine before voiding and 150 ml urine after voiding. I guess this means my bladder was not completely emptying?
In late june I was given cipro 500mg 2x a day for 14 days, the very urgent urge to urinate (the feeling where it feels you gotta go so badly) seems to have resolved, however I still wake up at night to urinate at least once. The urge now just feels like a full bladder rather then the feeling that my bladder is going to explode.
The cipro also helped with the stinging while urinating, I believe that is pretty much gone now however the discomfort in the urethra is still present so something is still not right. Is this just left over irritation that will go away or is this connected to my urinating problem.
Any insight on whats going on? The doctor put me on another 2 weeks of cipro believing that its a prostate infection however shouldnt the urinating issue have been completely resolved by now? The ultra sound showed my prostate is not enlarged so now I am not sure if it is even a prostate issue. Oh and I still have white blood cells present in my urine.
