Urination problem

This morning I woke up and felt a sharp pain in the middle of my penis when I was urinating. This was followed by what looked like drips of blood, but very diluted red which made it hard to distinguish as blood. After this I peed again later in the day with similar pain, but less intense. There was no blood this time at all...just very scared as you can imagine..

Hi,

Blood in the urine or hematuria can be due to infection, inflammation, or injury to the urinary system. The most common causes in people younger than 40 years of age are kidney stones or urinary tract infections. While in older people, cancers of the kidney, bladder, and prostate become a more common concern. A urinalysis may help to reach a diagnosis.

Are there other signs or symptoms present?  Urinary tract infection may  present with difficulty or pain in urinating, urinary frequency and urgency. It would be best to see your doctor for proper evaluation and to alleviate your worries. Take care and keep us posted.

Hello,
How are you? Haematuria can occur due to a large number of conditions like trauma, glomerulonepritis, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, instrumentation of the urethra, kidneystones, stones in the ureter etc.

As your symptoms suggest of burning sensation while passing urine, it is more commonly due to urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases. Because kidney and ureter stones are accompanied by pain that goes upto the loin. There could also be changes in the stream of urine.

Is this the first time you are having this? Or previously suffered from same kind of symptoms? In any case it is advised to get a urine examination done and an ultrasound.
Consult your urologist with the reports.

Take care.
