Urological issue or something else?

Symptoms (for the past 3 months):

Groin pain (both sides, mostly the right) which seems to be where the scrotum meets the groin...also pain which i suppose is the inguinal area up each side. This aches daily, varying degrees. Usually when it is aching, I also feel some aching in my lower right abdomen, appendix area...when I apply pressure there I do feel some discomfort but not real bad pain.

No swelling or lumps to my knowledge.

Occasionally my kidney's ache.

I've been to my GP 3 times. I was tested for Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, genital herpes, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. All negative. (3 months ago.)

I was tested again last week, awaiting results.

My urine and blood were also tested separately, nothing out of the ordinary there.

I've been on 3 days of Cipro as well as 5 days of Zithromax in that period, no change.

My doctor wants me to see a gastroenterologist, since the pain initially started in my lower abdomen and pubic area and did not involve the scrotum/penis/groin.

However, the majority of the discomfort is in that area now, with less in the lower abdomen.

So should I see a urologist instead?

I don't know if this is some sort of infection, or a hernia (no lump though...and both sides? doubtful) or appendix (but doesnt that come on quickly?)

I'm stumped.

Hi,

An abdominal CT scan or an ultrasound examination will be able to help. A CT SCAN is usually requested by your physician and  you are usually given a schedule for this. An ultrasound may be done at your physician's clinic if a machine is available and if your physician has been trained to do this.

Do keep us posted regarding your progress.

Are there any associated changes in urinary patterns? No. Urine looks/smells the same. No more frequent than usual.

Any pain in urination? No.

Any problems with sexual response ( erectile and ejaculation problems)? No.

Any change in bowel movements? No.

The only thing I can think of that happened right before I started feeling pain was someone ran their hand up my leg and must have hit a nerve or something because i tensed up real quick in my lower abdomen, i got so tense that i did feel pain in my lower right abdomen...once i relaxed, the pain there stopped btu I had never had that reaction/feeling before. 2 days later this pain began. So I was thinking a possible hernia or perhaps my appendix but i find no lumps and my lower right abdomen doesnt hurt...though when i put pressure on a certain spot it does hurt a bit, not sure if thats normal or not since i dont usually put pressure there.

Hi,

You initially presented with groin pain and with the results of your tests, infections have been ruled out. I suggest that you seek referral for a urologic consult. Groin pain in the absence of an infection requires further evaluation. An abdominal CT scan to complement a complete physical examination may be able to help rule out involvement of underlying structures.

Yes. You should see a urologist. Many GPs over look what maybe a problem. Many people present with the same lab results although for some it may  mean infection etc. The pain/discomfort you are describing sounds like it is urinary bladder related.

Well, it seems like you and I are on the same boat.
I've been tested on STDs twice and nothing was found.
I'm gonna take the tests again so I can make sure there's nothing wrong with me.
My doctor said this tests are different. Now I'm gonna take a test called "Urethral swab". I've heard it hurts like hell but I'm sure I've never took it before.
As I said, I'm still collecting the money.

Tell your doctor about urethral swab and ecography. Those are new for me and I think you didn't have it.
