Urology

I've had a total hyst. but I have bleeding every month or two. I have bladder pain and frequency and urgency. My urologist says I have cystitis cystica. He has done 2 cytology tests they were negative. Is this the same as having Interstitial Cystitis? I am a 58 year olld female and I've had 3 children.

What is your opinion of using botox for OAB with frequecny, urgency, and incontinence? I also have IC. I have taken all meds that there are and I've even had the Interstim and nothing has worked.

Thank You!

Thanks for replying to my message so quickly.

My urologist is going to do a cystoscopy and insert a catheter with medication in it. Will the medication tell him if I have IC or CC? When the biopsy is done is it done in the office or hospital?

I was taking Toviaz, but my mouth became very dry and I had hoarseness and lost my voice. I'm not taking anything now and the overactive bladder, frequency, urgency and incontinence is severe. The Toviaz and Gelnique didn't help any.

Thank you!

Hi there!

Cystitis cystic is distinct from interstitial cystitis though both may behave in a similar fashion symptomatically. While IC is usually a diagnosis of exclusion CC would need to be confirmed on a biopsy.
Hope this information helps.

Take care!
