it's well-noted that varicoceles seem to correlate with reduced fertility, and considering my age (19), im worried that it will only get worse by the time i get of age to want kids.
i dont have any kind of significant pain, but my left testicleTesticle lump Testicle pain Testicle ultrasound is notably smaller than my right one. also i think i've noticed that my sperm is misshapen, just from the looks of my ejaculate. the texture is considerably different, kind of a jelly-like texture.
i've heard that there is a surgery to fix these varicoceles involving the tying off of the dilatedDilated cardiomyopathy veins, im just wondering if that is recommended now, or if i should wait until im trying to get kids.
also, do varicoceles get worse over time, and is there anything in particular that will make it worse/better?
Although varicoceles typically develop in adolescence and teens, surgeons differ in their opinion on whether you should have varicocele repair at that time. Indications for repairing a varicocele in adolescence usually includes progressive testicular atrophy (some atrophy is expected), pain or abnormal semen analysis results. Consistency of semen varies from time to time and with age. Hence you need to get a semen analysis done.
Please discuss this with your doctor or seek another opinion from another urologist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
