Vasectomy / Bilateral Epididymectomy - really sterile?

Hello,
During a break with my husband, I had a sexual encounter with an old lover of mine... same week, I also made love to my husband. Here I am now back with my husband and pregnant... what a mess!
However, my ex-lover has had a vasectomy and a bilateral epididymectomy 3 years ago. He tested for the sperm count and it was nil (about 3 months after the operation)... He tells me that there is NO chance that it could be from him... but still, I am very anxious.
I have no plan of telling my husband about this, as I realize that there is very little chance of this baby not being his and it would just crush him. However, I feel that the next 8 months will be very painful because I don't know.
While I have read about the good results of vasectomy (less than 1 % chance) I haven't been able to find much information on the impact of a bilateral epididymectomy.
Can you help me please???

As you know, no vasectomy is 100% - although it comes close.
Assuming the eight week sperm check is completely negative, studies have shown that pregnancy can still occur in one to three in a 1000 chance. This number however is better than any method of birth control.
I am not aware of the epididymectomy affecting the fertility rates after vasectomy.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
