I have been experiencing a vibration sensation in my anus. Should I have this checked or will it go away?

So I’m not the only one with this problem!! I’ve been having cell phone vibrations in my anus for about 3,4,5 years? I do t even know how long because honestly, it happens rarely, only in the middle of the middle of the night and wakes me up out of a sound sleep and I usually only get one buzz that lasts the length of a text message. Seriously. It’s about a second long. Bzzzt. That’s it. Sometimes I’ll fall back to sleep and a second one will wake me up, but not always. I’ve been so embarrassed about it that I haven’t mentioned it to anyone, including my doctor, because I thought I was crazy. Crazy enough to think that I had been abducted by aliens and they’d implanted some kind of tracker in my ass!! I’m not kidding- I went there. I just couldn’t explain this thing, it made no sense at all. I’m 50 years old, I’ve had 6 hip surgeries with my hip being replaced twice now- all of this since 2006. The buzzing did definitely start after the surgeries. I also had hernia surgery 2 years ago and had 3 groin hernias repaired at that time. I’m chronically constipated from the pain meds I’m on due to my chronic pain. I’ve had pelvic reconstruction surgery. I have Degenerative Disc Disease in my lower spine and my neck. Also take B12 shots weekly due to inability to absorb it from food or vitamins. I don’t think I have hemorrhoids, no pain or itching there.  Time to ask the doctor for a colonoscopy though I think.

Thank you for describing exactly my symptoms!!!! You are not alone.
I've had it 6 months now. I have been frightened, and it's very tiring dealing with it 24/7. I'm on 2mg of Diazepam which seems to calm it down. Feel it more when I wake in the morning, or when I'm sitting still. I've have had an MRI/ Gyno / Heavy Metal & Blood Tests, and they have all come back healthy. Thinking of having a colonoscopy to see if anything turns up there? My neurologist gave me Diazepam (6 mg originally) to help me sleep, but I just want to find the real source of this. I wish you luck and will be back when I find it's cause. I believe it's physical not mental/stress related. It has kick started me being super healthy though. Happy to find this link. There are so many of us out there.

I'm wondering how many of you have had your B12 tested. I've been severely deficient for a while (I'm doing injections for that) and recently I've been having these vibrations. I'm thniking it's either this or parasites.
By the way, to get a correct B12 result, it's very important to not take any B12 for at least 4 months. Just to get a correct reading. That's why some get treatment based on symptoms of B12 deficiency only.

I think I have the ANSWER. I firmly believe that it is a nerve related issue. I suffer from repetitive hypnic jerks. One after an other. I cannot sleep any more without sleeping pills. For those who don't know,  hypnic jerk is an involuntary muscle spasm that occurs as a person is drifting off to sleep which eventually keeps him awake. This condition is related to peripheral neuropathy. In my case it stated a month ago. Other symptoms I have is weak urination stream, weak ejaculation and Erectile Disfunction but not complete. I only wish that this is not related to Pudendal nerve issue and that my erection will be back to normal at some point.

Hey guys, I'm really happy to have found this forum. For about a month I've been having a weird vibration in my *** that doesn't hurt. At first I thought it was my phone because I usually keep it in my back pocket, but it wasn't. I'm suspicious that this started when I fell on my tailbone slipping on some ice. I haven't gone to the doctors yet, and I let this vibration continue for over a month and was afraid to google it because I might find out that I'm dying or something lol. I have a hunch it's a chronic *** vibrating disorder we all just have to live with.

Hi. I'm the one who posted above you. I found out that it's worms. It may not be the same for you, but you can take OTC Reeses Pinworm medication and see if anything comes out.  It's safe to take. I hope that's not your problem, but it is mine, and I started out vibrating.

I HAVE A SOLUTION!  You need to be taking PROBIOTICS!!!!

I've been suffering from this vibrating/buzzing since Thanksgiving.  Chiro didn't know what's wrong.  He did adjust my tail bone, but had no other ideas.  I visited the chiro again to ask him to check to see if my tail bone or back was out again because someone said one adjustment might not do it because it doesn't always stay put in the first time (if in fact that was the reason for my buzzing).  My tailbone was out again.  But that wasn't the problem because it made no difference. He also checked the Ileocecal Valve like someone else suggested on here, but that wasn't the problem, either.   On another visit, he checked the psoas muscle and iliopsoas. Nothing was wrong except the iliopsoas muscle hurt when he pushed on it and he gave me stretches for it.  But I don't think that had anything to do with the problem.

When I was about to leave, he asked if I was on any medications.  I said I used to be on an antibiotic (amoxicillin) for strep for 10 days, and when that medication didn't work, I was on azithromycin for 6 days after that.  I was on antibiotics for a total of 16 days, and I started the vibrating just maybe 2 days after getting off the antibiotics .I've never been on them for that long before.

He said that may be causing the buzzing because it's messing with your intestines and flora in the gut and he told me to take probiotics.  I said I had been taking like 5 or 6 pills of probiotics already just in case that would help and he said well, you need to be taking them for months to get back the good bacteria that the antibiotics took away.  (I did notice I was getting better after taking only those 5 or 6 pills)...I just didn't know for sure what pill was working for me, since I was taking Vit D and B, bananas, and Magnesium and stuff, too.

So I've been taking them everyday for 2 weeks so far and I rarely feel the buzzing anymore!  Today I felt it once or twice, but it never lasts more than a few seconds.  And I tend to mainly feel them now when I get out of my car from driving somewhere, but the feeling is gone very soon.   (When the buzzing first started, I was feeling them every two seconds, all day long, almost nonstop, for about a week).

The Probiotics that I take are these (Ultimate Flora, 30 billion) http://www.renewlife.com/ultimate-flora-extra-care-30-billion.html.  My chiro suggested that I get an antibiotic called Acidophilus in liquid form because they're the best kind and have to be refrigerated, but I went to several stores and couldn't find it.  But there's acidophilus in the Ultimate Flora.

I hope this helps!!  I'm a 30 year old female.

I'm almost certain that for the men this has something to do with the prostate.

I have had this sensation twice - once when I had BPM ( Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) or Prostatitis, and after having a kidney stone extraction for a stone that was lodged near the prostate.

I believe that the sensation could be from nerve spasms or from urine passing by a slightly swollen prostate.  For me, the symptoms disappeared after healing.  Other men may wish to have a prostate examination.

Mine just started today. I was laying on my back when it started. Weird, never happened before. I do have exposed hemmeroids n maybe this has something to do with it. I am however convinced it is not anything serious, so we should stop worring. Seems we are not alone. If it were serious I am sure one of you would have seen it in a response by now. Lots of Docters do care. I'm gonna try a hot sitzth bath, meaning just relaxing mr body in hot water and massage , for men only, my prostrate to see if it helps. Will repost with results. STOP panicking, k. Guaranteed it is a small thing. Louie

Hi Everybody,

I am a healer and a reiki master and have the same vibration for over 3 months now on and off...

I felt like I had to answer to all of your guys because I believe this is nothing serious but more of a spiritual awakening condition.

I am a healer and I experience vibrations in my whole body on and off.

We are energy and we vibrate at a certain frequency but we are not totally attuned to feel these vibrations.

Anus and penis areas are considered belonging to the root chakra and a vibration in this area is actually a very good sign of energy awakening (its healing).

I also meditated on this and got confirmation from the Universe that this is just an increase in our awareness and nothing to be worried about.
For people that had hemorrhoids, this vibration sensation is healing your body so no worries. For the rest of the people, please don't worry because the root chakra represents the foundations in your life and the basic needs and family, this vibration can also be a spiritual, mental or emotional healing, or a physical healing as I just explained it.

This is probably the beginning of kundalini awakening. No worries.
You can also go on Youtube and look for a "root chakra meditation" or also meditate on the color red at the base of your spine for a more practical way of balancing/getting to know your core being.

Love and Light,

This was very helpful - thank you for posting something with concrete facts- makes perfect sense - I've been chained to my desk too much lately and suffering varicose veins. Time to move it! I also can't believe I've come across others with this weird problem!

Exact same problem here. The common issues I've noticed people going on about it back problems and constipation. I have exactly these issues as well. My docs never listen to me so I've given up on them. I'm guessing there's no cure so looks like its another thing to just put up with!!

I have had this sensation a few times over the years and I wonder if it is related to MS as I was diagnosed with it 6 months ago after my first episode 14 years earlier

did you ever find out what it was? I've had this same feeling for about a week and now that you mention it, it did start in the vaginal area and does feel like a cell phone on vibrate.... its only in the anal area now and it is soooo annoying! It used to only happen when i wiped the area with toilet paper but now its all the time...... I don't have hemorroids as far as i know so I dont know what it could be and kind of embarrased to ask my doctor in case she has never heard of it...... I also have anxiety and stress but who doesn't....  noone has an answer yet?? I too thought I was just the only strange one, comforting to know that I'm not the only one that feels this weird, annoying, feeling..... any docs out there that have an answer/?/

I have the same sensations. The question is if all this sensations may be product of our own worry or high stress periods? I started to feel this **** two years ago but i am a person diagnosed with anxiety problems. does anybody know has a different opinion or answer to this problem?

Anyone of you have been diagnosed with anxiety problems?

I have Fibromyalgia, which was just diagnosed a month ago, but I have been introduced to a whole new world of weird medical issues.

One thing I'm dealing with is IBS. It was during a bout of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), that I began to have this buzzing feeling in my rectal area. I also have a back injury and feel afraid it could be linked. I found comfort reading your stories! Thanks for posting them. It is not easy for me to talk about my butt, and even more uncomfy to discuss buzzing butt!

I am going to up my Vitamin B, call my nutritionist and visit my doc, in that order. I believe that many illnesses and symptoms are due to dietary issues. Maybe tweaking my diet a bit will help. Will keep you posted.

May we all sleep well!

Intense and continuous vibrations in groin and spine started 5 days ago, even my teeth are vibrating. not under stress or had any injury but thinking about it mild vibrations on my left side above pelvis have been there for some time on and off. I too though my mobile phone wasnt working properly!!  I went to A and E and was told by the doctor that he could feel the main artery on my left side side strongly pulsing against my large intestine which was apparently constipated, which I didnt know and as nerves/veins are linked in some way or other in that area it is more than possible the vibrations are traveling,  although he did say he had not come across this before. Have to wait and see if it stops but it is very annoying.
