What is hydrocil?

What is hydrocil and what causes it?  What concerns should I have for a 27 year old son who was just diagnosed with this?  What causes it and what are the treatments available?

my son was born 6 weeks ago, at birth he was checked and found to have hydrocele.  After an ultra sound they found he has it in both testicals.  The doctos reassure me this is common, and not to worry and that it usually subsides over time.  Is this likely to happen?  Or should I prepare myself for him needing surgery? Would he e i pain?  Is this something that I've done during pregnancy to cause this?

A hydrocele is an accumulation of fluid in the sac surrounding the testicle. (Not the scrotum, but an inside sac called the tunica vaginalis). They can be cause by a number of things such as an abnormality in the development of the tunica (usually found in children), inflammation, trauma, or tumors. Unless caused by a tumor they're relatively harmless. Usually the only sign is a swelling of the scrotum, there's usually no pain involved.

Treatment can range from simple aspiration of the fluid with a needle to surgical repair. Needle aspiration does not always work as it doesn't address the cause and fluid can re-accumulate. Aspiration along with the injection of a chemical to cause scarring works better because the scarring prevents re-accumulation. Surgery involves a small incision on the scrotum. The tunica is cut, folded over on itself and sutured. This opens the sac so fluid can't accumulate and has no ill effects on the testicle.

MY BOYFRIEND HAS HYDROCELLE! AND THERE ARE DIFFERENT TREATMENTS HE CAN HAVE A DOCTOR USE A NEEDLE TO DRAIN THE FLUID, BUT MOST LIKELY IT WILL COME BACK. SURGERY IS THE BEST SOULUTION. IT WILL CURE IT COMPLETLY.
