My son is 16 months old, growth/weight 75%.  He was born with posterior urethral valve and reflux grade 1, valve ablation operation was done when he was 4 days old.  Three months after surgery, there was no valve no reflux.  His left kidney function is 86%, right 14%.  His urine and blood tests are fine, no UTI.  What bothers me is bilateral hydronephrosis.  He always had this, very bad on the right kidney 24mm, less on the left 14mm.  It looks as the left kidney (the healthier one!) hydronephrosis is getting worse: since birth, it was 6mm, then 9mm and now 14mm.  Is there any way to prevent this, operation?  My son is taking thrimethroprim antibiotic since birth and doctor said that there is no need for operation, but I am worried.  How do I keep left kidney to stay as it is as long possible?
Thanks

Just curious...was your son disagnosed w/ PUV prior to birth? I'm 20 weeks pregnant and was introduced to this.
