any suggestions

I am 76 year old white male in generally good health with only having had skin cancers ( couple of squamous, bunch of basel cells). In 1992 my PSA was 2; in 2002=11; in 04=18; in 7/05 = 22.  I have had bioposies after each PSA reading and they are all negative. I am absolutely Asymptomatic. I am having a consultation with the chief of urology of a medicl school.  I know that I am too old to be operated on and will probably die in 15 years before the cancer occurrs if it does.  Does you have any experience with this, can I be put on any type of medication or diet that can lower the PSA; any ideas or suggestions. Thank you

Unless knowing what the cause of the rising PSA was, it is difficult to come up with a treatment.

You can consider differentiating the PSA into free and total.  The ratio of free to total PSA can be suggestive of cancer.

Prostate biopsies can sometimes miss prostate cancers, and thus should be repeated.

If this is a case of prostate cancer, there are treatments other than surgery - including radiation or brachytherapy (i.e. radioactive seeds).

You can discuss these options with your personal physician or urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
