belated puberty

I am 27 years of age and i am concerned.  My genitals seemed to start going thru puberty in middle school and then stopped.  I have facial hair, muscle development (which came at the end of high school) but my genitals still remain the same.  What should i do.

thanx

There can be several causes of delayed puberty - either problems with the hormone secretion from the hypothalamus, or problems with the testes themselves.

Blood tests looking at the LH, FSH and testosterone level should be considered to evaluate for these conditions.  If there is a testicular mass detected on physical exam, an ultrasound should be considered to evaluate this.

If there is evidence of neurological disease, or if the bloodwork points to a hypothalamic disorder, a head MRI should be done to further evaluate this.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
