bladder pain after urination

For over 2 weeks I have had bladder pain especially after urinating and I am urinating very frequently.  I have had an internal exam and ultrasounds and nothing is showing but the pain can be mild to severe and it is becoming difficult to deal with.  Someone mentioned IC?  Could it be that?

Hi,

It would help if you could let me know two things: whether you are or have been on antibiotics for this episode of pain in the bladder and whether you have been tested for STDs.

There are some organisms that are transmitted sexually and are not detected in the urinalysis as they are intracellular organisms. They need special tests that specifically detect them and these tests can be carried out if there are signs and symptoms of a UTI such as pus cells and blood in urine, but no bacteria visible on microscopic examination.

Do follow the general measures for dealing with a UTI that I have listed in my previous post and post the additional details and any other pertinent information regarding other concurrent systemic diseases.

regards,

I was checked for a UTI and it came back negative.  They can't seem to find what it is but it hurts every single day and does not seem to be getting any better.

Hi,

Bladder discomfort and pain associated with urination and increased frequency of urination can indicate a urinary tract infection that may also include cystitis.

This can be diagnosed based on a urinalysis which checks for bacteria, blood, and WBCs in urine.

If an infection is diagnosed, treatment involves antibiotics and painkillers.
Additionally, you will need to ensure that you keep your fluid intake high - over 2000 ml, add citrus fruits and juices to your diet, and avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Also maintain hygiene, pass urine before and after sexual intercourse, and always wipe front to back in the restroom.

IC is a chronic, sometimes lifelong, disorder and is unlikely to be the cause of your problem given the short-term duration of your symptoms.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
