bleeding from the urethra

by eleanor1830, Jan 05, 2008 11:54AM
last month I had a bladder infection but then started bleeding where the blood was dripping down my legs, so I went by ambulance to the hospital. It took 3 weeks for the bleeding to stop and was on high dose antibiotics. However this last week I was bleeding again, but I knew I didnt have a bladder infection. This time my sig. other took me to a better hospital and I was diagnosed with bleeding from the urethra. I see a specialist on Monday Jan.7th. While in ER I had a sonogram on my bladder that came back with good results no turmors etc. The ER Doc says the urethra tube where my pee comes out of is inflammed and very red in color. When he checked my passageway it really hurt. My concern is I dont bleed all the time just on and off. I had a total hysterectomy in 1998. I am 56 yrs old. white female. I am just wondering what could be the problem with me and this bleeding could this be a sign of cancer, I always think the worst. Or any causes of what this might be?
