bllody ejaculate

Several weeks ago my wife thought my semen was somewhat blood-tinged. The next day she brought me to climax and all was well. About 5 days later she stroked me to climax and again the semen appeared slightly blood tinged, at the beginning but was white at the end. The next day the episode was repeated with normal results. The pattern appears to be that with 4 to 5 days between sex, there is some blood-tinging with the first part of the fluid. Repeated sex day after day looks normal. No blood in the urine. I would have to look hard to find any other differences. At a stretch, my testicles feel a little sore, but work has been very strenuous lately; I am not sure of any connection. I have an appointment with my physician in 2 weeks, but in the meantime am curious. STD's are not an issue, either.

Blood in the semen can be caused by several things.  This can include infections like prostatitis or STDs as well as more serious conditions like prostate cancer.  Many times the cause is unexplained.

A reasonable initial test would be a urine test looking for any infection, followed by a transrectal ultrasound to image the prostate for any masses.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or in conjunction with a urology referral.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
