Hello,
As the blood is bright red in color,so the source of injury is close to the anus.I would definitely suggest a colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.Pls take soft easy to digest foods and also take plenty of fiber in your diet. Also keep your fluid levels optimum by drinking plenty of fluids.

I hope that helps.Take care and regards.

The blood is bright red every time, I need to push everytime I need bowel movement, I am 36 years old and this is getting frustrating. should I be taking laxative, my bowel does not seem to be hard, it is just hard to get it out , any suggestions on food or laxative I should be taking while waitting for my colonoscopy and will a colonoscopy tell for sure what it is I have.

Hello,
Bloody stool means that there's some sort of injury or disorder located somewhere in your digestive tract. The closer the source of bleeding is to the anus, the brighter red the blood will be. This is because the bacteria in your digestive system work to break down the blood as it passes through. So the longer blood stays in your digestive tract, the darker it will become.

If the bloody stool is bright red, then it could be due to hemorrhoids or anal fissures. The causes of bloody stool that is more maroon in color is intestinal polyps, inflammatory bowel disease or diverticulosis (diverticulosis causes significant bleeding)

The symptoms  of blood in bowel can be due to any of these. If you are having any discharge from penis then it can be due to rectourethral fistla or an independent medical problem.Pls consult a gastroenterologist and urologist both.

I hope it helps.Take care and regards.
