Because he is 60 years old, I would be evaluated for cancer. This would include a referral to a urologist for a prostate check and probably cystoscopy (a scope that can evaluate for bladder cancer).
Regarding the jaundice - this can certainly be caused by liver failure. Initial tests to evaluate this would include blood tests to evaluate the liver function as well as an abdominal ultrasound.
