burning in urethra/ tip of penis

For about one week I have had a constant burning in the tip of the penis/ urethra. Sometimes it is stronger, sometimes weeker. It does not get stronger during urination at all times. I am 28 and had this problem off and on since the age 16. Normally, it comes after urinating and stays in form of servere burning for about 30 minutes. Sometimes it happend ones a month and sometimes not for 6 month. However, sometimes like know it stays for a while. This time it is bad. I have been tested negative for infections. How can I get relieve? It is driving me crazy. Is there anything that will numm this area/take the burning away?

Please help. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I would ensure that infection isn't causing the symptoms.  Options can include urethritis, STDs, and prostatitis.  Tests to consider would be a urine test as well as urethral swabs.  A prostate exam as well as transrectal ultrasound can also be considered.  If an infection is found, appropriate antibiotics would be needed to treat this.

Non-infectious causes can include anatomical abnormalities - such as urethral polyps or a urethral stricture.  A cystoscopy would be a reasonable test if this is considered.

I would suggest a urology referral.
