About 3 months ago the condom fell off during sex. A week later began to feel pain in my urethra and meatus w/ a slight clear discharge. i went to doc's they gave me std check urethral smear and urinnalysis. results came back 2+ wbc.
i was treated with zithromax, no relief from pain after week. given doxy no relief of pain. urethral smear and urinalysis performed again it came back negative, but still had pain in meatus and urethra intermittently. doc then gave me metronidazole for 1 week plus 1 tab of flucanozole. no relief of irritation.
went back to doc's office and he gave me a prostate massage after taken a urine sample. the prostate massage (smear)came back negative. the doc can't seem to figure out what the problem is. i was also given bactrim 1 wk.
on a 1-10 scale my pain is 3 on average. the doc also says the pain could be in my head, but i know its not.
My question is can anything viral cause the persistant symptoms such as mine like hiv or anything like that. the doc said i don't have herpes or anything and no visible signs of anything.
I also forgot to mention that a raised vein appeared on penis on the dorsal vein it is circular when the penis is flacid. when the penis is erect the vein stretches out and not visible. the vein is the color of my skin and does not have any pain. at times there tends to be irritation after ejaculation, but not always.
could this be due to overgrowth of yeast causing my pain or damage inside the urethra due to the initial infection. i would like some answers or ideas at least ball park figures.

HIV should be tested regardless of the symptoms. A bacterial cause would be more likely to cause such chronic symptoms.
You can further evaluate the prostate with a transrectal ultrasound. This can look for any signs of a prostatic abscess, which may require drainage if found.
Chronic prostatitis is still possible. If this is suspected, treatment may require extended courses of antibiotics - on the order of 4 to 12 months.
Yeast may be possible, however the symptoms are continuing despite treatment with fluconazole. A urethral sample can be done to evaluate for fungus.
These options can be discussed with your personal physician.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
