Hi Dr, I have had chronic nonbacterial prostatitis for the past 2 years. I am concerned because I am fairly young (35yo) and dont really understand why I have this problem. I am being treated with
flomax with pretty good success (90% better), I still have burning sensation after
ejaculationBlood in the semen
Delayed ejaculation
Premature ejaculation
Retrograde ejaculation but pretty much ok otherwise. Its hard for me to live with this and to always have in the back of my mind if it is cancer! My urologist said he thinks its a food allergy?? Have you heard of this?? I have had the following exams performed.
1. ultrasound of the kidney and the bladder. (test all ok)
2. sygmoscopy (SP?) tube done the urethra to visually inspect the prostate. (md found that the prostate is still inflammed)
3. flowmeter
urineCalcium - urine
Calcium urine test
Chloride - urine
Cortisol - urine
Electrolytes - urine

4. initally I was treated for a couple of months with
ciproCipro

Cipro i.v.
Cipro xr (no effect)
5. Ive given
urineCalcium - urine
Calcium urine test
Chloride - urine
Cortisol - urine
Electrolytes - urine
Glucose test - urine
Hcg in urine
Ketones - urine
Kidney - blood and urine flow
Lh urine test (home test)
Ph urine test samples many times all neg for bact but did find some
rbcRbc count
Rbc indices.
My questions are
1. If this was you would you be ok with these results or would you want some other test to be performed?? Is my urologist missing something? Should I get a second opinion?
2. How common is it for young men to get prostatitis? What causes it??
3. Does this eventually go away??
4. My doctor doesnt seem to want to do a PSA is that odd?
5. Shouldnt an ultrasound of the prostate be done?
Thanks for all advice :)
